Doug is a master voice impersonator and you will swear you've gone to heaven when you hear the likes of Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, The Ink Spots, and even Tennessee Ernie Ford channeled through his vocal cords! Doug constantly amazes audiences by playing the chromatic harmonica and the accordion at the same time!
Taylor's smooth satin voice brings new life to the American popular standards. By staying true to the vocal styles of the 20's, 30's and 40's, she pays tribute to the composers of these beautiful melodies and features songs made famous by Peggy Lee, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and others. Taylor's guitar playing really swings, and in 1995 she released her own solo swing CD "So There" to excellent reviews.
The chemistry between Doug and Taylor is reminiscent of the energy that Louis Prima had with Keely Smith - with Doug being the cut-up and Taylor as the poker-faced straight sidekick. They bounce off each other with humor in up-beat swing tunes, and when they perform their duet version of Edith Piaf's "La Vie En Rose" (with Doug singing in French and Taylor in English) there isn't a dry eye in the house!
Doug and Taylor have been performing together for over 15 years. With their vast knowledge of American popular song, they may occasionally stray into the world of western swing and early country with hits and lesser known gems from Bob Wills, Ella Mae Morse, Jimmy Wakely and Kay Starr. They also have a special Holiday Show available featuring favorite holiday swing songs from the 1940's including, "The Christmas Song," "Jingle Bell Rock," "There's No Place Like Home For The Holidays," "Christmas Island." and many others.
The Taylor Jay & Doug Bright Combo regularly perform as a quartet with Paula Walters on upright bass and Joe Weihe on drums, who both share their love of vintage swing, jazz and western swing. Armed with hundreds of songs and the talent to showcase them appropriately, this group radiates with the excitement of making music!
