The Ramsey-Collins Band presents a dazzling variety of hot acoustical musical styles. Their hip swing sound is closely related to the Austin Texas sound influenced by such great artists as Louis Armstrong, Bob Wills, Cab Calloway, Louis Jordan, Benny Goodman and Asleep At The Wheel. Using all acoustic instruments - violin, guitar, clarinet, flute and upright bass - their sound is highly energetic and always first class.
All top-notch musicians, this group excels in both the traditional and modern styles while borrowing from cajun, tex-mex, latin, blues, folk and rock. They know how to keep an audience interested, and their shows are always exciting and lots of fun.
Lead vocalist, Jeff Ramsey, plays guitar and mandolin and has a long history of playing with top bands around the Northwest. He is a great vocalist who can sing with the spirit and energy of Cab Calloway, and the next minute switch to the western swing style of a Bob Wills standard.
Violinist, Barbara Collins, is a master bluegrass and western swing fiddler who is equally at home with country, swing, jazz and classical styles. She also provides the kind of exceptional vocal harmonies that breathe new life into great songs.
Bassist, Mick Nicholson, really swings on the five string stand-up bass. Mick has studied jazz for over thirty years and was one of the original members of the Navy bluegrass band, Country Current. He has played in the White House and for the King and Queen of Sweden.
Tom Russell is one of the area's best clarinet and flute players, and is loved for the humor he brings to the stage. His intricate solo work shows the influences of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw, and really rounds out the dynamic sound of this great band.
