The Fossils
Looking for a Real Bluegrass band? The Fossils are a Seattle bluegrass band specializing in classic bluegrass songs and instrumentals as well as original material. What separates The Fossils is their understanding of the roots of bluegrass and how the music is supposed to be played. The band consists of four members with over 100 years of collective bluegrass experience. Drawing upon their extensive knowledge of the bluegrass repertoire, The Fossils select outstanding obscure songs and instrumentals, many of which you won't hear anywhere else. The Fossils believe in the importance of entertainment and accomplish this with relaxed, humorous repartee and insightful musical commentary.
The Fossils are:
Doug Bright (Mandolin, Fiddle, Vocals): An eclectic lover of various styles of traditional music, "Mr. Music" also plays with "File Gumbo," a Seattle zydeco band and publishes the "Heritage Music Review."
Barry Brower (Guitar, Vocals): Barry was the founder of "Friends of Sally Johnson," a top bluegrass group. He writes for "Bluegrass Unlimited" magazine and hosts the "Bluegrass Ramble" radio show on KBCS, Bellevue.
Belle Chenault (Acoustic String Bass, Vocals): The "Alabama Songbird" got a master's degree in choral conducting and then discovered the wonderful world of bluegrass music.
Bill Scott (Banjo, Lead Guitar, Vocals): Bill was founder of "Sockeye," a well-known Seattle bluegrass band and a former member of the legendary "Tennesseans." He specializes in Don Reno-style banjo.
