The Filé Gumbo Zydeco Band has been the featured house band, performing almost every tuesday evening, at the New Orleans Restaurant in Seattle's Historic Pioneer Square district since 1987. Travellers from the heart of zydeco-land often stop in and are surprised to learn that none of the band members are from down on the bayou, but they always say "you sound just like home to us!"
The Filé Gumbo Zydeco Band is a great band to dance to, and are perfect for Mardi Gras parties. They have recorded several outstanding albums and are in high demand for weddings, parties, carnivals and fairs. They have also appeared at many festivals including the Bainbridge Island Music Festival, San Jaun Dixieland Jazz Festival, Federal Way Family Festival, Taste Kirkland and the Northwest Folklife Festival.
"This fun time blues and Zydeco band brings home the music in bar kicking fashion. . .a very solid, danceable set. . .
- Chris Lunn/Victory Music
"The quality and unique style of this band is something to absorb and celebrate!"
- Washington Blues Society
"The Filé Gumbo Zydeco Band is an exciting American outfit which plays country, blues, rhythm and blues, soul and rock n roll in the Louisiana tradition - and they are very good indeed. . . a full-blooded, high-energy band who, without necessarily being strictly zydeco, have absorbed the tradition to remarkably good effect."
- Chris Woodford/Now Dig This
