The Fabulous Roadstars

The Fabulous Roadstars feature a variety of music from the Ragtime Era to the days of hot, swinging traditional jazz... a popular choice at jazz festivals where quality music is a must and the audience will not settle for second best.

An experience in the traditional music of America dating back as early as Ragtime from the late 1890's to traditional jazz from New Orleans, Chicago and San Francisco. The band is at home performing the music of such luminaries as Bix Beiderbecke, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton, King Oliver and his protege, the young and exciting Louis Armstrong, very early Duke Ellington plus many more! The Fabulous Roadstars are a traditional jazz show band, playing a non-stop mix of music in each set, interspersed with easy rapport with their audience. You will know you were a part of the performance because the band feels like old friends, who, with you, share in a love affair of exceptional traditional jazz music.

The band is graced with some of the top talent in the Northwest, but the sound of the group rivals the best in the nation. Among the outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists are band leader, cornetist and singer Darrell Wagner who is a phenomenal showman. The rest of the band is made up of an exemplary cast including Travis Ranney on Reeds, David Parisi on Cornet and vocals, Bruce Simpson on the Patented Roadstars Rolling Drums... a vintage drum set on wheels, Paul "Ozzie" Ostler on Tuba and finally Steve "Mad Dog" Moody on Trombone and vocals.

(If you don't have it already, you can download the free RealAudio Player. The RealAudio format is very effective at compression, however the audio quality is low -- the sound is rather tinny, like an old pocket transistor radio. This is not a flaw of the recordings or of the artists).
